Her long years in religion have seen her in various parts of the country, and she has seen pioneering days as well. Over the years she has done more jobs single-handed than any other A.C. of living memory. Now with time having taken a heavy toll of her energy, she spends the eventide of her life at Lullanagar, Pune, growing old gracefully. Even now her deft fingers turn out beautiful crochet and knitted articles.
Sister Patricia Ann reports: “We did all we could to make the birthday celebration truly memorable. Sister Saviola led the community in prayer and decorated the board. She brought a banana plant and placed a platter of fruit and vegetables to symbolize Sister Janet’s fruitful years.
Mass was celebrated by Fr. Antony Louis. Breakfast was special. A special chocolate cake was ordered. Sr. Patricia Ann read a unique 90th Birthday verse composed by her for the occasion. Sisters Marie Beatrice and Sukanya joined us for breakfast. Sisters from Ishwardaan joined us for lunch.
Novices, Teachers, students, workers and friends dropped in to greet Sr. Janet, and some brought her a gift as well. During night recreation Sr. Janet narrated her memories of religious life. We realize she has faced tough times. As the saying goes: Tough times never last; but tough people do.
May Sr. Janet live to be a hundred if He so wills.
