Sister Vincent's New Innings

Installation of the Provincial Superior and Team Date: 23.08.2009

The strains of Tagore's hymn, 'He comes, comes, ever comes...' ushered in the morning prayer welcoming Sister Vincent as our new provincial. Within a year of her laying down her office as superior general,
Sr. Vincent has been called to shepherd the Western Province,to meet new challenges and new ventures. We thanked her for her generous response to the Lord and asked Him to direct her in all her undertakings. We also expressed our gratitude to Sr. Marie Beatrice and her team for their labour of love to the province.

The highlight of the service was the handing over of the light of the Province by Sr Marie Beatrice to Sr. Vincent who placed it on the altar, thus symbolizing her acceptance before the Lord, while the hymn, ' Here I am' was being played.

During the canticle we remembered with gratitude the outgoing provincial team and also welcomed the new team - Sisters Josina, Rosanne, Vimala Paul, Lorena and Florence Mary. They were invited to light their individual candles from the main candle.

The liturgical highlight of the day was the mass celebrated by Fr. Larry Pereira who is closely associated with the ACs.

A colourful dance by our working girls to the lilting music of a bhajan, led the celebrant in procession to the altar.

At prayer in the provincial chapel.
Our three communities from Bandra, Nandakhal and Kalamboli came together to celebrate the day.

Deep sentiments of joy and gratitude were expressed once again at the offertory procession when Sr. vincent and each of the team members presented symbolic gifts of flowers, light, a potted plant, a root, water and wine, the chalice and hosts, with a meaningful prayer.

Finally at the melodious rendering of the Te Deum the sisters paid their allegiance of love and loyalty to the new provincial.
